Definition of Addiction: Habitual inclination, bent;
a condition of compulsive psychological or physiological dependence
on a drug or anything which will bring a feeling, or a physiological
change, to the human body. It the feeling provided by that which
is taken in, even music as a sound, which develops the inclination
to be addicted. Definition of Methods:

Life as a total addiction: As one is born into a world full of
evil elements there is a time period when choices are made. When
the choices are made to follow the ways of the world rather than
lead the way by Creation numerous mixed feelings arrive from
one extreme to another. There might be feelings of joy, feelings
of sadness and feelings of excitement. When feelings of anger
and resentment begin to develop they act as a curse because they
separate man's conscience from Creator and the ways of the world
begin to takeover where they can be food, sex or anything which
creates a need for "it". "It" has often been
described in this Course as the evil elements because it is "it"
that takes over the human mind as if an alien had arrived upon
this earth and spread its wings over everyone. "It"
could be described as the devil, Satan, an alien or whatever
name you would like to give it as long as you can understand
that it is a power which opposes that of Creation. As long as
man needs his life, his feelings and his possessions he is entirely
dependent upon life as a whole and whatever it contains. Whatever
is good on this earth not necessarily is good and as long as
it had been created by man without conscience and a correct allegiance
to Creator it will always contain an evil alien element. The
complete concept of any addiction is worldly and earthly and
originated through evil's way of destroying that which is good
and from Creator.
Any need or dependency is also an addiction. If you need food,
if you need sex, if you need love, if you need religion or anything
it is just another addiction created upon this earth. Creator
did not make this a need. The natural forms of love and the correct
way to have sex cannot come under the category of pleasure because
the definition of pleasure is "to derive some feeling from
it" not to forget that feelings are the conduit for all
addictions. This of course does not include pain from injury,
from a fire or something resulting from dangerous acts which
might cause an injury.
There are no addictions without feelings. One must fully understand
the meaning of "feelings" to understand the life process
as it truly exists through Creation. Yes, life is full of feelings
because the feelings were the result of the programming of the
human mind under influences of corruption and negative thoughts
which include hate, resentment, jealousy, deceit, mistrust and
all forms of molestation which can be verbal, physical or even
visual. It is impossible today to avoid any of this as we now
see television and Internet full of corruption. We now see our
leaders in government following the same transgressions as the
people they now rule are totally addicted to their life-style.
People are provided with excitements and more excitements which
all have a sexual inclination. If they cannot have it through
sex than they find it another way through food or even the clothes
they wear. The original addiction for the original human spiritual
